Few students of architecture actually get a chance to understand where their professors came from and why they do what they do. This interview with Cal Poly SLO Associate Dean Mark Cabrinha provides just that.

Mark Newell Cabrinha received his B. ARCH from Cal Poly SLO in 1995, a Master of Architecture from the University of Illinois in Chicago in 2001, and a Ph.D. in Architectural Science from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in 2010. After working for seven years in Chicago as a Project Architect focusing on learning environments for K-12 schools, he was pulled back to the academic world in an effort to give back the knowledge he was learning and further his own research.

Mark has spent most of his teaching career at Cal Poly in SLO and has recently become Associate Dean of Academic Affairs. His knowledge and expertise in digital fabrication is brought into the studio still through practice and advanced seminars on the subject.

Recorded in Spring of 2020 for ARCH 462: Businesses in Architecture. Content owned by Andrew Goodwin.
